CREAM: 'SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE' [RETRO-RESEÑA]

Una noche fue suficiente para que la inspiración hiciera de las suyas. Corría el año 1967 cuando, tras asistir con su compañero Eric Clapton a un concierto de Jimi Hendrix en Londres, Jack Bruce dio forma a una de las secciones de bajo más célebres de la historia. A lo largo de otra noche, escribieron la letra él y Pete Brown —artista  que colaboraba habitualmente con la banda, un año después haría lo propio con White Room—. Únicamente faltaba el estribillo y de ello se encargó Clapton, aunque no sabemos si también sucedió al amparo de la oscuridad...

Grabado en los Atlantic Studios de la ciudad de Nueva York e incluido en el segundo álbum de los británicos Cream, Disraeli Gears (1967), Sunshine of Your Love se convirtió en su primer éxito en Estados Unidos y uno de los temas más representativos del supergrupo. Su incursión entre las diez primeras posiciones de los ránquines no fue inmediata y no se produjo hasta el verano del 68 coincidiendo con el lanzamiento de Wheels of Fire, el siguiente trabajo de estudio y el de la citada White Room.
